Selectarc UP 309L
This low carbon solid wire, designated ER309L, is specifically designed for Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) of stainless steels, particularly those with compositions similar to 309 and 309L. It exhibits excellent compatibility for welding dissimilar steel combinations, including low alloy steels, ferritic stainless steels (such as 430) and martensitic stainless steels (like 410). Furthermore, it’s suitable for high-temperature applications and can be utilized as a buffer layer prior to hardfacing operations. Its high ferrite content minimizes cracking risk during welding, offering improved ductility and resistance to weld cracking, especially when significant dilution occurs.
The ER309L wire is primarily used in demanding applications such as boiler manufacturing, civil engineering projects, and maintenance and repair activities. It’s particularly beneficial in scenarios where welding different steel types is required, offering a versatile solution for a range of welding processes. It’s recommended for applications where reduced cracking risk and good weldability are crucial factors. Consult the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for comprehensive fume information.
