Selectarc TIG 8CD12

This high-purity tungsten electrode is specifically designed for GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) of various steels, including 15CrMoV6, 25CrMo4, 35CrMo4, and 40CrMoV12. It’s suitable for applications requiring welding temperatures up to +500°C. Its high purity minimizes the risk of micro-porosity in the weld. This electrode is also suitable for building up tool steels. The product conforms to EN 4332: 8CrMnMo12-4-9 standards. Following post-weld heat treatment at 730°C for 2 hours, the weld metal possesses excellent mechanical properties, with a hardness ranging from 440 to 570 HRC (Rockwell C).

This electrode is primarily used for hardfacing applications, specifically for fan blades, tools, and plastic injection moulds. It’s also suitable for building up tool steels. Welding procedures require a TIG mode with shielding gases (Argon – I1) at flow rates of 6-12 l/min. Back shielding with Nitrogen (N1) at 3-6 l/min is recommended. Preheating the workpiece to approximately 250°C and subsequent post-weld heat treatment at 730°C for 2 hours are crucial for achieving optimal mechanical properties.
