Selectarc TIG 16/8M
This welding rod, designated TIG 16/8M, is a high-carbon solid rod specifically formulated for use with GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) of high-temperature stainless steels. It features a low ferrite content, crucial for achieving optimal weld properties in demanding applications. The rod is classified according to AWS A5.9, ISO 14343-A and W 16 8 2. It’s designed for applications requiring resistance to creep at elevated temperatures, up to 650-700°C. It is commonly used in industries such as petrochemicals and incineration, as well as in nuclear plants.
This TIG 16/8M rod is ideal for welding high-temperature stainless steels like 304H, 316H, and 347H. It’s particularly suitable for applications demanding high creep resistance at temperatures ranging from 650 to 700°C. Typical welding parameters include using argon shielding gas (6-12 l/min) and nitrogen shielding gas (3-6 l/min) for back shielding. A copper backing support can also be used to prevent ‘back end’ rust phenomena. The rod’s composition, with a minimum carbon content of 0.30% and a maximum of 0.10%, allows for robust weld formation.
