Selectarc PHOSBRAZ V6
PHOSBRAZ V6 is a controlled fluidity brazing alloy designed for the capillary brazing of tubes and connections, particularly in water heaters and refrigeration systems. It utilizes phosphorus as a de-oxidation agent, eliminating the need for additional flux when brazing copper to copper. This alloy offers excellent flow characteristics and degassing, leading to comfortable operation. Its corrosion resistance is comparable to copper, though performance can be affected by sulphur-containing gases or high temperatures (e.g., cooking ranges). It’s predominantly used by plumbers and heating engineers, and can also be employed with Phosbraz flux on cuprous alloys. However, it is not suitable for joining steel or materials containing iron, nickel, or cobalt due to the formation of brittle phases.
PHOSBRAZ V6 is recommended for capillary brazing of copper tubing and connections, water heaters, and refrigeration systems. Primarily used by plumbers and heating engineers. It can be combined with Phosbraz flux for brazing cuprous alloys. Suitable operating temperatures range from +150˚C (without strength loss) to -20˚C in air conditioning and refrigeration applications. Maximum short service joint operating temperature is 200˚C. The properties of the brazed joint are influenced by several factors including base metal properties, joint design, and metallurgical interactions. When using, ensure proper ventilation to avoid fumes.
