Selectarc PHOSBRAZ M68
PHOSBRAZ M68 is a copper-phosphorus alloy (CuP) formulated with a silver addition (0.2%) to lower the liquidus point, refine the alloy, and enhance its properties. This manual brazing alloy is designed for robust, leak-proof joints in copper applications, offering good fluidity when brazing sleeves, tubes, and copper connections. It’s suitable for machine junctions and provides strong connections. The alloy’s unique composition improves electrical conductivity and ductility while also increasing resistance to vibration and cyclic pressure. However, it is not recommended for use with sulphur-containing media or for joining steel or nickel-containing materials due to the formation of brittle phases.
PHOSBRAZ M68 is primarily utilized in plumbing, electrical components, refrigeration, and heating/ventilation systems. It’s a cost-effective solution for joining copper to copper, including sleeves, tubes, and connections. The alloy’s temperature range allows for service temperatures between +150 ˚C (without loss of strength) up to -10 ˚C. It can be applied using a flame. Crucially, users must consider the limitations regarding sulphur and incompatible metals to ensure optimal joint performance and longevity. It’s particularly effective when joining copper to low zinc brasses using Phosbraz flux.
