Selectarc PHOSBRAZ CPA14.5
PHOSBRAZ CPA14.5 is a copper-phosphorus-silver alloy (CuP-Ag) specifically designed for brazing applications. This alloy, containing 14.5% silver, significantly lowers the liquidus temperature, refining the alloy and enhancing its electrical conductivity and ductility. It’s a versatile option for joining copper, particularly for sleeves, tubes, and connections, producing strong, leak-proof joints. Notably, it’s a flux-less brazing solution, offering good fluidity and gap-filling capabilities. However, it’s crucial to note that this alloy is not suitable for applications involving sulphur or joining ferrous materials (steel, iron, nickel, cobalt) due to the potential formation of brittle phases and corrosion issues under specific conditions.
PHOSBRAZ CPA14.5 is primarily used in plumbing, electrical components, refrigeration, and heating/ventilation systems. It’s particularly well-suited for joining copper to copper, and can also be utilized to join copper to low-zinc brasses with Phosbraz flux. The alloy’s low melting point (around 700°C) and good properties allow for service temperatures ranging from +150°C to -70°C, making it appropriate for a variety of applications. It’s recommended for flame brazing. Proper consideration should be given to base metal compatibility and environmental factors to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
