Selectarc PHOSBRAZ CPA 4.5

PHOSBRAZ CPA 4.5 is a CuP alloy containing Silver, formulated without Silicon. This alloy is designed to lower the melting point of the brazing compound, refining the alloy and enhancing its electrical conductivity while simultaneously improving its ductility. It’s particularly beneficial for creating strong, leak-proof joints when used with copper sleeves, tubes, and copper connections, including machine junctions. Due to its excellent gap-filling properties, it’s suitable for bridging wider gaps. However, it’s important to note that this alloy should not be used with sulfur-containing media or with materials like steels (Fe), Nickel (Ni), or Cobalt (Co) as it can lead to brittle phase formation within the joint. The corrosion resistance is comparable to copper, except when exposed to sulfurous gases or at elevated temperatures.

PHOSBRAZ CPA 4.5 is primarily utilized in plumbing, electrical components, refrigeration, and heating/ventilation applications. It’s an economical choice for joining copper to copper and can also be used to join copper to low-zinc brasses with Phosbraz flux. Within the refrigeration sector, it operates effectively between +150˚C (without strength loss) and -20˚C. The alloy is compatible with flame applications. Important considerations include the avoidance of sulfur-containing media and incompatible base metals, ensuring proper joint design and a focus on achieving robust, leak-proof connections.
