Selectarc MIG 24/12S
This low carbon solid wire, enriched with silicon, is specifically designed for Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) of stainless steels, particularly those with compositions similar to 309 and 309L. It’s a versatile option for welding a range of steels including low alloy steels, ferritic stainless steel (like 430), and martensitic stainless steel (like 410). The high ferrite content minimizes the risk of cracking during welding, and the increased silicon content enhances alloy fluidity. It’s suitable for applications demanding high weld quality and resistance to cracking.
The MIG 24/12S wire is primarily used in boiler making, civil engineering projects, and maintenance and repair operations involving stainless steel welding. It’s suitable for both structural and general purpose welding applications. The wire’s properties allow for efficient welding of dissimilar steel components. It’s often used as a buffer layer before hardfacing applications.
