Selectarc HB14Mn
Selectarc HB14Mn is a rutile-basic coated electrode specifically designed for applications requiring high impact resistance. It is primarily used for repairing and protecting metal components subject to heavy usage and wear, particularly in demanding environments like railways and quarries. This electrode is often substituted for Selectarc 18/8Mn in assemblies of 13% Mn steel (Hadfield steels) and can serve as a cushioning layer before applying abrasion-resistant final layers using HBA or HB63. The resulting deposit is austenitic and exhibits excellent resistance to impact, wear, and cracking, thanks to the addition of nickel and chromium.
This electrode is ideal for repairing worn or damaged metal parts, offering protective layers in applications such as railway infrastructure (rails, switches, crossings, tongues) in quarries and mines (crusher jaws, excavator and grab teeth, mill hammers, rock crushers). It can be used as a cushion layer prior to applying abrasion-resistant layers or for assembling steel components with a high manganese content. Welding parameters (current, temperature) are specified in the table.
