This DC+ electrode is specifically designed for the cold welding of various cast iron types. Featuring a graphite-basic, barium-free coating and a « Bimetal » core wire, it offers high electrical conductivity, enabling rapid welding speeds with both direct current (DC) and alternative current (AC) without overheating. It’s ideal for repair and construction welding on all cast iron types, including dissimilar joints with steels. The ‘Bimetal’ core wire allows for significantly faster fusion speeds compared to conventional Ferro-Nickel electrodes. This electrode is compatible with a range of cast iron grades, including Grey cast iron, malleable and nodular cast iron, and is suitable for welding materials defined by ASTM, DIN, and NFA standards.
This electrode is primarily used for repair and construction welding on cast iron, particularly for joining cast iron to steel. It is recommended for applications requiring high welding speeds and low heat input to minimize the risk of cracking. Post-weld hammering is strongly advised, particularly on rigid components, to alleviate stresses and improve weld integrity. Clean, grease-free surfaces are essential for optimal performance. The recommended welding parameters (current and bead size) are designed to minimize heat input and reduce the potential for cracking.
