Selectarc Flux UP BF10MW
This agglomerated welding flux, designated BF10MW, is a fluoride-basic type flux formulated for submerged arc welding (SAW). It boasts a high basicity and low impurity levels (P and S), resulting in weld deposits with exceptional mechanical properties, including high toughness even at cryogenic temperatures down to -80°C. It’s particularly well-suited for multi-wire applications, providing high deposition rates and efficient slag removal. The flux delivers excellent weldability and a visually appealing weld bead. It is commonly used with construction steels, cold tough steels for low-temperature applications, high-tensile fine-grain steels (e.g., S690QL), boiler and vessel steels, and can be utilized with DC or AC welding using single, tandem, or multi-wire systems. Recommended welding wires include ISO 14341-A AWS A5.17 S2 EM12, S3Si EH12K, S2Mo EA2, S2Ni1 ENi1, S2Ni2 ENi2, S2Ni3 ENi3, S3Ni1Mo0.2 ENi5, and ISO 26304-A AWS A5.23 S3Ni1Mo EF3, S3Ni2.5CrMo ~EM4.
This flux is ideal for applications requiring robust weld properties at extreme temperatures, such as construction, cold forming, and low-temperature service. Specifically, it’s frequently used with steels designed for cryogenic use (down to -80°C) and high-strength steels like S690QL. Its suitability extends to boiler and vessel fabrication, particularly when high deposition rates and easy slag removal are desired. The flux is compatible with DC and AC welding processes and various wire configurations (single, tandem, multi-wire), adding to its versatility. Quality control is recommended via weldability testing, especially for extended storage periods, to ensure optimal performance.
