Selectarc CuNi30
This Selectarc CuNi30 electrode is a basic coated copper nickel electrode designed for joining CuNi-alloys with up to 30% Ni and for surfacing the final layer on CuNi70/30 clad steel. The resulting weld metal exhibits resistance against seawater. It’s suitable for use in all positions except vertical down, offering easy slag removal and regular weld beads. The electrode is composed of CuNi30Mn2FeTi and is compliant with AWS A5.6 : ECuNi, DIN 1733 : EL-CuNi30Mn, and ISO 17777 : E Cu 7158.
This electrode is primarily used in shipbuilding, oil refineries, and desalination plants. Welding instructions recommend a current of 55-75A for 2.5x300mm, 80-100A for 3.2x350mm, and 110-130A for 4.0x350mm electrodes. Post-weld heat treatment involves redrying the weld at 200-250°C for 2 hours. It’s crucial to maintain interpass temperatures below 150°C and use Selectarc Ni190 as an intermediate layer when welding on steel.
