Selectarc B77
This high-strength basic electrode is designed for welding fine-grained steels, particularly those with tempered coatings. It boasts exceptional crack resistance and features a composition including Nickel (Ni), Chromium (Cr), Molybdenum (Mo), and Manganese (Mn). The deposit offers excellent radiographic quality and very low diffusible hydrogen levels (3 ml H2/100g metal deposit). It provides a soft, stable arc, minimal spatter, and effective slag removal. It’s suitable for use with a wide range of steel grades, including those listed under ASTM A517, A533, A537, A678, A633, and others. Pre- and post-weld heat treatments may be required depending on the base material and should be discussed with the manufacturer.
This electrode is primarily used for welding low-alloy, tempered-coated steels, particularly pressure vessels where high strength and durability are required. It is suitable for applications demanding good weld metal toughness, low hydrogen content, and excellent radiographic quality. Specifically recommended for use with steels such as 17MnCrMo 33, 11 NiMnCrMo 55, and 16 NiCrMo 12, as well as those listed within the ASTM A517 and other referenced standards. Critical for applications involving elevated temperatures up to +450°C and potentially lower with pre-heating.
