Selectarc B74
The Selectarc B74 is a high-strength basic coated electrode designed for welding fine-grain steels. It offers increased yield strength and is suitable for use at temperatures ranging from -40°C to +500°C. It features soft fusion, easy slag removal, and produces a good aesthetic appearance in the weld seam. This electrode is compatible with a variety of base materials including construction steels, tube steels, boiler and pressure vessel steels, high-strength steels, heat-resisting steels, and cold-tough steels. It conforms to AWS A5.5, ISO 18275-A (E 50 2 Mo B 4 2 H5), EN-Designation S355 – S500 P355 – P460, ASTM A225 grade C, A302 grade A – D, A514 grade A – C and A517 grade A – C.
This electrode is ideal for welding applications involving fine-grain steels, particularly in the construction, boiler, and pressure vessel industries. It’s suitable for demanding environments requiring high strength and temperature resistance. Proper preheating and interpass temperature control are recommended to optimize weld quality and minimize thermal stresses. Redrying at 300°C for 2 hours is a necessary step, and thermal stress relieving can be performed for thicker sections.
