Selectarc B691N
The Selectarc B691N is a basic coated electrode specifically designed for welding creep-resistant steels, commonly known as P91. This electrode is formulated to deliver excellent performance in demanding applications where high temperatures and creep resistance are crucial. It’s suitable for welding plates and pipes used in power plants, heat exchangers, and steam boilers, conforming to various standards like AWS A5.5, EN 1599, and ISO 3580-A. The deposit provides resistance to temperature and creep up to 620°C, with excellent performance against hot gases and overheated steam. Proper welding procedures, including heat treatment and controlled cooling, are essential to achieve the specified mechanical properties.
This electrode is primarily utilized for welding high-temperature, creep-resistant steels, particularly P91, in applications such as power plant components (boilers, tubes), heat exchangers, and steam boiler parts. It’s vital to follow recommended welding parameters, including preheating, interpass temperature control, and post-weld heat treatment, to ensure optimal mechanical properties and weld integrity. It is suitable for joining plates and pipes classified according to standards such as EN 1.7386, ASTM A187, and A336.
