Selectarc AGFLUX powder
AGFLUX is a brazing flux specifically formulated for use with silver brazing alloys. It maintains its activity over a wide temperature range, ideally suited for alloys with melting points between 550-730°C. This flux is compatible with various brazing methods including flames, induction brazing and resistance brazing. Notably, it exhibits minimal fume generation. This product complies with RoHS standards. It’s designed for effective use in conjunction with other FSH Welding Group products, such as Phosbraz (for brazing brass with copper) and Brazargent (for silver brazing alloys with melting temperatures below 800°C).
AGFLUX is recommended for brazeing Steel, Copper, Copper Alloys and Nickel & Nickel alloys. It finds application in industries like electrical, construction vehicles, and copper tube installations. When using, the flux powder must be mixed with water and applied to the joint surface with a brush. Additional flux should be applied externally. For effective fluxing, consider the ‘hot rodding’ method, but be aware of potential limitations in capillary joint penetration. Ensure joint surfaces are mechanically cleaned and degreased before application. Heat slowly and evenly, monitoring the flux’s clarity or opacity as a temperature guide. If blackening occurs, it could indicate insufficient flux, overheating or flux exhaustion. Post-braze flux residue removal is crucial for corrosion prevention. This can be achieved through immersion in hot water (60°C for 30 minutes) followed by brushing with a rag or non-woven abrasive pad. Mechanical cleaning with a wire brush, steam jet or abrasive blasting media (grit, soda, dry ice) are also effective. Quenching the brazed joint in water below 300°C is a viable option, particularly for Sn-containing alloys, to render the flux residue more fragile for easy removal.
