Selectarc 506

This alloy, designated 506, is a brazing compound primarily composed of copper and zinc, fortified with 6% nickel. This formulation significantly enhances its mechanical properties compared to CUPROX. It is specifically recommended for creating high-strength joints and is also suitable for chromium and nickel plating applications. The alloy exhibits good flow characteristics and is well-suited for gap brazing. Due to its high zinc content, minimizing the heating cycle is advised to prevent zinc vaporization. It is essential to follow safety guidelines regarding fumes, as detailed in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), which can be obtained upon request.

The 506 alloy is ideal for applications involving high-stress joints, including lock-smithing and workshops. It’s particularly effective when joining steels, cast irons, moulded steels, nickel and nickel alloys, copper, bronze, brass, nickel silver, and cupro-aluminium, particularly where a solidus temperature exceeding 900°C is required. Typical applications include the tubular construction industry (metal furniture, bicycle frames, radiators, towel warmers), mining tools, heating and cooling systems, and other demanding environments.
