This solid rod is specifically designed for GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) of stainless steels with comparable chemical compositions, including 17-4PH, X5CrNiCuNb17-4-4, and XAS. It’s a robust welding material suitable for demanding applications due to its mechanical properties after post-weld heat treatment. This TIG 17/4CU rod is primarily used in aerospace, marine pump and turbine applications, and for repairing turbine discs and blades. It’s particularly well-suited for applications requiring high strength and durability, especially when combined with post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) and precipitation hardening at temperatures ranging from 610-630°C for a specified duration (4 hours). The recommended welding parameters involve using Argon as a shielding gas at a flow rate of 6-12 l/min, with an optional back shielding using Nitrogen at a flow rate of 3-6 l/min.
