Selectarc Inox 385
The Selectarc Inox 385 electrode is a rutile-basic coated electrode specifically designed for welding fully austenitic, highly corrosion-resistant stainless steels such as 904L and B6. It offers excellent weldability in all positions, except vertical down, and provides a stable arc with good slag removal and regular, finely rippled weld beads. Its composition, rich in molybdenum (Mo) and copper (Cu), confers resistance against attacks from phosphoric and sulphuric acids, as well as pitting and stress corrosion in chloride-containing media. It is suitable for use at operation temperatures up to 400°C.
This electrode is primarily used in the pulp and paper industry, for the manufacture of transport containers and in chemical industry installations. Welding instructions include recommended current ranges (50-130A depending on diameter), interpass temperature control (< 150°C) and stringer bead techniques to minimize heat input. Post-weld redrying at 250-300°C is recommended.
