Selectarc Inox 317L
This stainless steel electrode, designated E 317L-17 according to AWS A5.4, EN 1600 and ISO 3581-A, is a low carbon Rutile-coated austenitic stainless steel with approximately 3.5% Molybdenum and around 8% ferrite. It’s designed for welding and hardfacing stainless steels such as 316L, 317L, and other stabilized grades. The electrode features a very low moisture pick-up coating, resulting in soft fusion, easy slag removal, an exceptional weld bead appearance, and easy re-striking. It offers improved pitting corrosion resistance compared to 316L.
This electrode is suitable for welding and hardfacing applications involving stainless steels including 316L, 317L, 316LN, 31700 and 317LMo. Optimal welding parameters are provided: current ranges from 45A to 140A depending on the electrode diameter (2.0x300mm, 2.5x300mm, 3.2x350mm, 4.0x350mm). The recommended interpass temperature is below 200°C, and post-weld redrying at 250°C for 1 hour is advised when necessary.
