Selectarc B68
The Selectarc B68 is a basic coated electrode designed for welding creep-resisting steels. It’s formulated with chromium and molybdenum to provide high resistance to hydrogen sulfide (H2S). This electrode is suitable for applications involving service temperatures up to 600°C, including those featuring 2%Cr -1%Mo castings. It’s compatible with a wide range of base materials as outlined in the classification standards and offers excellent mechanical properties after heat treatment.
This electrode is primarily used for welding components such as overheaters, valve bodies, pipes, and boilers, particularly those constructed from creep-resisting steels. It’s well-suited for applications in hydrocrackers and offers compatibility with materials specified in NF A 36-206, DIN 17155, BS, and ASTM standards. Welding instructions recommend a specific current range and heat treatment process to achieve optimal weld metal properties. Preheating and interpass temperature controls are also crucial for success.
