Selectarc B609

The Selectarc B609 is a low-hydrogen basic coated electrode specifically designed for welding creep-resistant steels. It offers excellent resistance to temperature and creep up to 600°C, making it suitable for demanding applications involving high temperatures and hot gases. This electrode utilizes chromium and molybdenum to achieve its robust performance. It is classified according to AWS A5.5, EN 1599, ISO 3580-A, and AWS A5.4 standards. The deposited weld metal has a typical composition with <0.10% C, 0.4% Si, 0.8% Mn, 9.0% Cr, 1.0% Mo, and <0.025% P and S, with a remaining amount of Fe. It’s suitable for a wide range of applications including power plants, heat exchangers, tubes, and steam boilers.

This electrode is primarily used for welding high-temperature steels, particularly those requiring creep resistance. Specifically suited for applications such as power plant components, heat exchangers, tubes, and steam boilers where temperatures can reach up to 600°C. Requires preheating of joints to 300°C and maintaining an interpass temperature between 250°C and 350°C. A post-weld heat treatment at 750°C/1h followed by slow cooling (maxi 55°C/h) is recommended for optimal mechanical properties. The recommended welding current varies depending on the electrode diameter and length.
