Selectarc Al112
This Selectarc Al112 electrode is designed for welding and repairing aluminium and aluminium alloy pieces. It features a 12% silicon content and is specifically formulated for joining cast and extruded aluminium alloys with silicon levels exceeding 7%. The electrode is suitable for dissimilar joints between aluminium and aluminium alloys, making it ideal for applications requiring robust and reliable welds. It’s important to note the electrode’s sensitivity to humidity, necessitating careful storage and handling to maintain its performance.
This aluminium electrode is primarily used for welding engine blocks, cylinder heads, tanks, containers, frames, and lorry tippers. It’s well-suited for joining various aluminium alloys including AlSi, AlCuSiMn, and AlSiMg. The recommendations for welding current, cleaning procedures, preheating (especially for thicker sections), and arc control are crucial for achieving optimal weld quality and preventing porosity. Proper slag removal and fast travel speeds are also key to a successful weld.
