Selectarc BRAZARGENT 5040
BRAZARGENT 5040 is a widely used, cadmium-free brazing alloy formulated with Copper, Zinc, high Silver (40%) and Tin. This alloy offers a low melting point, increased fluidity, and excellent wetting properties, making it ideal for closely fitted joints and tight gaps. It provides good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, and is available in bare rods, coated rods (AGFLUX HP) and TBW (Tubular Brazing Wire) form. The addition of Silicon (approximately 0.1%) enhances the alloy’s stability and brazability, preventing sparkling effects during melting.
BRAZARGENT 5040 is suitable for brazing a wide range of materials including Steels, Copper, copper-based alloys, stainless steels, and Nickel and Nickel-based alloys. It can be used with flame or induction brazing methods (except coated forms). Typical applications are found in HVAC, automotive, food and sanitary, electrical, household and healthcare sectors. The brazed joint operating temperature ranges from approximately -200°C to +200°C, with minimal impact on strength. The alloy is available in various formats – bare rods, coated rods and TBW – offering flexibility for different brazing processes and joint designs. Standard sizes are available in diameters from 0.7mm to 3.0mm, and custom sizes are also accommodated.
