Selectarc BRAZARGENT 5000
BRAZARGENT 5000 is a high-quality, cadmium-free brazing alloy formulated with silver (40%), copper, zinc, and tin. Developed as a direct replacement for cadmium-bearing alloys, it’s ideal for a wide range of applications demanding strong, reliable joints. The addition of tin lowers the melting point, enhancing fluidity and wetting properties, allowing it to penetrate tight gaps effectively. This alloy is particularly well-suited for closely fitted joints and lap joints, ensuring excellent corrosion resistance and a non-toxic performance. It’s designed to be used in conjunction with AG PASTE for optimal results.
BRAZARGENT 5000 is primarily used for brazing Gas Installations, various Steels, Copper and Copper-based alloys, stainless steels and steel tools. Its versatility extends to nickel and nickel-based alloys. Crucially, it can be safely employed in food and sanitary applications, including medical fluid transport. The alloy is compatible with both flame and induction brazing techniques. Proper usage involves a controlled quench (above 300°C) to maintain joint strength. Careful consideration must be given to base metal properties, joint design, and metallurgical interactions for optimal performance.
