Selectarc PHOSBRAZ 840

PHOSBRAZ 840 is a copper phosphorous brazing alloy specifically designed for oven brazing applications. This alloy is known for its aggressive melting characteristics, requiring rapid heating to prevent separation of the elements. It’s utilized for braising copper to copper without the need for additional flux, offering significant energy savings. Commonly employed in workshop environments, it’s suitable for joining copper to copper, cuprous alloys (bronze, brass), and is used in the electrical and plumbing industries. Important note: It’s strictly recommended against use with sulfur-containing media or ferrous materials (steel, iron, nickel, cobalt) due to the formation of brittle phases within the joint.

PHOSBRAZ 840 is primarily used in automatic oven brazing operations. It’s highly effective for joining copper to copper and cuprous alloys, eliminating the need for supplementary flux. Its key applications include the electrical and plumbing sectors. Due to its temperature limitations and potential for brittle phase formation, it’s unsuitable for use with sulfur-containing media or ferrous materials. In air conditioning and refrigeration, it can operate between +150˚C (without strength loss) up to -20˚C. The maximum short service joint operating temperature is 200˚C.
