Selectarc PHOSBRAZ 790
PHOSBRAZ 790 is a copper phosphorous brazing alloy specifically designed for oven brazing applications. This alloy is known for its aggressive nature compared to manual counterparts, necessitating a rapid heating cycle to prevent separation during melting. It’s used for joining copper to copper, acting as a self-fluxing alloy and eliminating the need for additional flux. Due to its low melting point and excellent fluidity, it is particularly energy efficient. While commonly used with cuprous alloys and Phosbraz flux, it is crucial to avoid using it with materials containing sulfur, steel, iron, nickel or cobalt as it can lead to brittle joint formations. Its temperature range allows for use in air conditioning and refrigeration applications (up to +150°C without loss of strength and down to -20°C).
PHOSBRAZ 790 is predominantly utilized in workshop environments for automatic oven brazing. It’s ideal for joining copper to copper components. Its self-fluxing capability reduces the complexity of the brazing process. Applications span across the electrical and plumbing trades. Notably, it’s frequently employed in air conditioning and refrigeration systems, operating within a temperature range of +150°C (without strength degradation) to -20°C. Careful consideration must be given to base metal compatibility – it should not be used with materials containing sulfur, steel, iron, nickel or cobalt to prevent the formation of a brittle joint structure. The use of preform sizes (1.50, 2.00, 2.50, 3.00 mm) is recommended for optimal results.
