Selectarc PHOSBRAZ 770
PHOSBRAZ 770 is a specialized brazing alloy designed for oven brazing applications, particularly for joining copper to copper. This alloy is known for its aggressive melting characteristics, requiring a rapid heating cycle to prevent separation. It’s a self-fluxing alloy, eliminating the need for additional flux, making it suitable for various industries, including electrical and plumbing. The alloy’s low melting point and fluidity contribute to energy savings. It’s commonly used in ‘Step Brazing,’ employing multiple alloys simultaneously to achieve optimal joint strength and performance. It’s crucial to note that this alloy is not suitable for joining ferrous materials (steels, iron, nickel, cobalt) due to the formation of brittle phases.
PHOSBRAZ 770 is primarily utilized in workshop settings for automatic oven brazing. It’s recommended for joining copper to copper and compatible cuprous alloys (bronze, brass). Its applications extend to the electrical and plumbing industries. Specifically, it’s effective in air conditioning and refrigeration systems, operating within a temperature range of +150˚C to -20˚C without loss of strength. The maximum short service joint operating temperature is 200˚C. When used in ‘Step Brazing,’ this alloy is often combined with other alloys to create robust and reliable joints. Always consult the MSDS for detailed fume information.
