Selectarc PHOSBRAZ P66
PHOSBRAZ P66 is a copper phosphorous brazing alloy designed for robust brazing of fittings, pipes, and applications with large joint gaps. This alloy boasts self-fluxing properties and offers corrosion resistance comparable to copper, although performance can degrade in the presence of sulfurous gases or at elevated temperatures like those found in cooking ranges. It’s a versatile option, particularly suitable for joining copper to copper, eliminating the need for additional flux, and finding applications within the electrical and plumbing trades.
This alloy is primarily utilized for joining copper to copper components, offering a self-fluxing action and simplifying the brazing process. It’s effective in the electrical and plumbing sectors. However, it’s crucial to note its limitations: it should not be used with sulfur-containing media or ferrous metals (steel, iron, nickel, cobalt) due to the formation of brittle phases. For air conditioning and refrigeration, it can operate between +150°C (maintaining strength) to -20°C. Maximum short-term joint operating temperature is 200°C. Proper consideration must be given to joint design and potential environmental factors.
