Selectarc AG ACTIVE PASTE
AG ACTIVE PASTE is a ready-to-use paste designed specifically for brazing silver-based alloys with copper, stainless steel, and nickel alloys. It’s composed of a mixture of complex fluoroborates, providing excellent protection to the brazing component at high temperatures. This white, borate-free paste is also available for automated dispensing equipment. It’s suitable for a wide variety of joining applications, including switchgears, farm machinery, heat exchangers, plumbing fixtures, refrigeration systems, ship repair, and steel furniture.
AG ACTIVE PASTE is ideal for both manual and induction brazing processes. It’s recommended to thoroughly stir the paste before use and apply it evenly across the joint surface using a brush. For cold brazing, a cold brazing rod can be dipped into the paste, transferring it to the joint. When using flame brazing, it’s conditionally suitable due to the limited time before the flux saturates with oxides. It’s crucial to mechanically clean and degrease the joint surface before applying the flux. Heat slowly and evenly to the brazing temperature, using the flux melting point as a guide (it will become clear or opaque). Post-braze flux residue should be removed by immersing the component in hot water (60°C) for 30 minutes, followed by brushing with a rag or non-woven abrasive pad. Mechanical cleaning with a wire brush, steam jet, or abrasive blasting media is also effective. Quenching the hot brazed joint in water below 300°C is recommended to make the flux residue more fragile and easier to remove.
