Selectarc CUPROX

CUPROX is a copper and zinc alloy, enhanced with small additions of silicon, manganese, and thinness, designed to improve adhesion and control zinc vaporization during brazing. It’s a high-zinc alloy that requires careful heat management to prevent zinc vaporisation. Supplied as bare rods or coated with POLYFLUX. This alloy is intended for gap brazing applications and is compatible with a wide range of metals including steels, cast irons, nickel alloys, and copper alloys, provided the solidus temperature is above 900°C. It’s a critical component in industries like tubular construction, metal furniture, bicycle frames, and heating/cooling systems.

CUPROX is primarily used for gap brazing applications across various industries. It’s recommended for joining steel, cast iron, and other alloy metals where a strong, reliable joint is required. Due to the high zinc content, minimizing heating cycles is essential to prevent zinc vaporization and potential weakening of the brazed joint. Specifically, it is frequently employed in the manufacture of metal furniture, bicycle frames, radiators, towel warmers, and various heating and cooling systems. Controlled quenching is essential for optimal joint strength.
